CHARACTER
Name: Yosuke Hanamura
Canon: Persona 4
Timeline: True Ending
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: NA

Personality: To put it simply Yosuke doesn’t know what he wants. He is a kid with no goal in life. A 17 year old boy that wants to be void of responsibility. One who wants to ride the ride of life for what it is worth, not where it will lead him. This isn’t to say he doesn’t slack off, though he does tend to go down the lazy path. He is aware of what he should be doing. Such as get good grades, get ahead in a career and ascend to maturity. This boy just isn’t sure how to go about it and he has a fear of it. Why? Because he is afraid his self will get in the way, if he shows himself.

Yosuke’s nerves are always present, sitting in the blank space of his mind. He is terrified of messing up and sending his ‘happy go lucky’, ‘takes jokes with a smile attitude’, ‘no worry I’ll get it this time don’t sweat partner’ persona toppling over. If anyone ever got close enough to know him, Yosuke was sure they would have no reason to stick around anymore. He has a certain over eagerness and desperate tendencies too him. For example if he were to text and you took a moment to respond. Thirty second later he would only be texting back wondering where you went off too. An hour later it would be the same, except now asking if everything was all right. It would only be after this constant barrage that he would give an emotion of a sweaty smile and apologizing for his annoying behavior.

Before moving to Inaba, yosuke was a city boy and still is to some extent. He constantly played the happy go lucky persona during his days. Heck, why would he want to be in this small town, his friends were back in the city and his entire life as well. In fact while he was in Inaba it was hard to tell who his friends were and who was just in it for a free ride. After all who wouldn’t want to take advantage of the Junes manager’s son? He was a free ticket. The very thing his family came to represent (Junes) was despised by Inaba allowing his loneliness to hit a new level. That loneliness and isolation are compounded when it’s shown that the one person who gave him the time of day in Inaba -- Saki Konishi, whom he had a hopeless crush on -- is killed and shown to have secretly been as irritated and exhausted with him as everyone else.

Things looked up, fortunately. Yosuke has real friends. Friends that he counts on, is willing to put his life on the line for and know exactly who he is. It allows him to see the possibility that working and working at making people like him isn’t the necessity he thought it was; that maybe people might actually like him. Though, he does still have quite a ways to go, Yosuke is making progress.

Despite all of this Yosuke still has a tendencies to separate ‘people’ and ‘people who trust him’ into categories. Given his job in retail it has given him a gift for customer service. How unsettling it will be when Yosuke finds out just how good of a salesman he is one day. It's this 'persona' that most strangers get; all bright smiles and politeness and how may I help you, sir or madam? Remember, every day is customer appreciation day at Junes! The ones that he has opened up too, get a different picture. Yosuke can be solemn, passionate, insensitive, vulnerable, and intensely furious when riled. However, his snark and his inexperience at being himself can cause for a ‘few’ foot-in-mouth moments but it is simply what makes Yosuke, Yosuke. His teasing and prodding can usually lead too far, but he is quick to apologize and that bright smile is back on his face in no time. However, when an apology doesn’t work, sometimes a quick kick to the stomach…or crotch can get the message though and send him cowering to a corner for a few minutes.

If there’s one thing Yosuke avoids, its confrontation. Even with all the growing he’s done overtime, the fear of losing all he’s gained still lurks in the back of his mind. He is at a point in his life now where his confidence is on its way to changing for the better. He's more assertive, less of a doormat, and has a hope for his future that wasn't there before. He is still nowhere near grown up, but when faced with an extremely difficult decision, he is capable of making the choice that needs to be made. Well. Most of the time.

First Person: [A new arrival steps off the train. He lazily gives a stretch and a step forward. A moment is taken to retrieve his phone from his pocket.]

What a boss ride that was…seemed to take ages just to get to wherever that des…

[He trails off and he has come to the realization that his phone is not working.]

Woah, what gives, did we have an earthquake…did he power lines get cut?

[His head lifts as he now decides to assess the situation and look at his surroundings; he jumps back quickly not even noticing the crunch that follows as he steps on the communicator.]

Oh man! Not good, not fucking good. Shit, I musta gotten off at the wrong stop. Or this is some sort of wild dream I got myself into. Heh…yeah that’s it.

[He looks down at the ground for a moment and notices the communicator.]

Maybe this will help. It sure looks pretty lame…but heh worth a shot in a dream right.

[And he clicks the feed to video, a quick view of the boy is shown over the network before he fumbles a bit with the device and the image is lost.]

Third Person: Well today was the day…wasn’t it. The day he would get to go to school! No…seriously that was lame. Another thing that falled into that category was this whole town. Though, why would he ever admit that…to anyone. Just smile and wave Yosuke…that way you actually make some sort of friends.

He stood by the door, pulling his shoes on as slowly as he could, “Yeah mom!” he muttered as he slung his school back over his shoulder and went to reach for his helmet. He paused as he heard the familiar vibration from his phone, quickly he pulled it out, but there was nothing. No new texts…but he was certain he heard it vibrate. A sigh escaped his mouth and he pulled his helmet on. It seemed…to be more comment now, this constant phone checking and imaginary alerts. Why…didn’t they text back anymore?

He headed out the door and went to fetch his bike from the back. He stopped for a moment as his mother came out from the house, “I told you garbage before you head off.” She nagged. He let out a sigh and gave a quick nod before placing his bike back in the shed. The garbage took him a moment as he moved sluggishly to the side of the house to dispose of the waste. He was certain now that school was going to rot. Though, he was pretty awesome to some extent, after all being the son of the manager of Junes did have its perks. Oh! That reminded him, if school was going to suck, he would always have the lovely Saki waiting for him when we went to work. Maybe one day, one day he would tell her how he felt. Yes! Then this town wouldn’t be so boring anymore.
